Ok so we’ve all heard of method acting – but it sounds as if Shia Labeouf has been taking things to a whole new level on the set of his new war movie.
The 28-year-old actor has been in the headlines all summer for a series of weird outbursts, which saw him being arrested for shouting like a nut during a theatre show in New York.
Back on the set of his new WW2 film Fury, Shia’s been throwing himself into his role as soldier Boyd ‘Bible Swan, even slashing his own face to make bloody scenes seem more realistic.
Co-star Logan Lerman told GQ: “They were putting (make-up) cuts on Shia and I said, ‘Yeay, yeah, it looks good,’ and Shia was like, ‘No, it doesn’t look real.’
“Then he walks out into the hallway and says, ‘Hey man, wanna see something fun? Check this out …’ and he takes out a knife and cuts his face. For the whole movie he kept opening these cuts on his face. That’s all real.’
Lerman, 22, also said that Shia insisted on having one of his teeth pulled out by a dentist (presumably because it made his character look more authentic).
Ginger Clam can only applaud Shia’s attention to detail – we just hope that he’s never cast to play John Wayne Bobbitt!
