Donald Trump has become the latest celebrity to fall into a Twitter troll’s trap after he unknowingly retweeted a picture of notorious serial killers Fred and Rose West.
Famous people who reply to good causes on social media have apparently become a target of pranksters who try to con them into tweeting something likely to cause a storm.
Trump feel victim to one when somebody asked him to retweet a picture of his late parents out of respect. The tweet, featuring an image, read:
“Hi @realDonaldTrump. My parents who passed away always said you were big inspiration. Can you pls RT for their memory?”
Trump retweeted, but the problem was that the message was accompanied by a photo of Fred and Rose West, the notorious British couple who were convicted of killing at least 10 young girls.
The tweet has since been deleted and Trump, according to the BBC replaced it with a message that read: “I thought I was being nice to somebody re their parents. I guess this teaches you not to be nice or trusting. Sad!”
Later he added: “I may sue.” According to the BBC, Trump did not respond to a request for further comment.
